Jesus Christ

Our Messiah's name was put through a Greek/ Latin meatgrinder to become the name Jesus, which was then pronounced "Yeah-Zeus" (as it still is in many European countries). A more accurate transliteration of Messiah's name is Y'shua. It was a common name in those days. In the Old Testament, it is translated as Joshua. Christ, from the Greek word christos, is a translation of the Hebrew word messiah.

So why not call Him Y'shua Messiah? Why not pronounce His name in His language- the way He would have recognized it? Why continue to deny the Jewishness of Jesus, and the Jewishness of our foundations? Then perhaps many Jews will realize that becoming a Christian is not to turn your back on your identity, but to accept something very Jewish. For what can be more Jewish than to accept the Messiah?
